What Is Domenicanto?
|
These are improvised singing sessions in Ticino’s sacred places, led by Igor Olivier Ezendam. The idea of going to sing as a group in the churches of Ticino came to Igor during his personal journey of vocal exploration in Ticino. A specialist in overtone singing, he states that “there is no better way to discover the roots of Gregorian chant than by singing the vowels in churches”. And as Don Mirco from the Parish of Arzo says: "Those who sing well
pray twice..." Entering a sacred space and discovering the acoustics of a church has always been a great source of curiosity for him. Igor invites students and lovers of singing to come and explore the church by singing freely, guided by their feet, their eyes and the emotions that arise during this special experience. In this way, through singing, it is truly possible to find Sunday’s peace together.
For those who have never been before, the singing will be led by Igor at the start; we will then explore the building’s acoustics individually, before coming together again at the end. The peace of a blessed Sunday! |
When is the next Domenicanto?

On Sunday 1 February 2016, we will meet in Meride to sing and pay our respects at the Chapel of Our Lady of Visacco, where three Marian apparitions are said to have taken place in the past. One of these apparitions occurred above the waterfall situated just behind the chapel, which we can visit after the Domenicanto open-singing session.
