The story behind Feeling Sound
Igor Olivier Ezendam is a Dutch overtone singer, multi-instrumentalist and founder of Feeling Sound. Through concerts, workshops and education around the world, he has dedicated more than three decades to exploring the transformative potential of the human voice.

Over the years, he has performed in more than fifteen countries, taught at universities, conservatories and international festivals, released nine albums and collaborations, co-directed festivals including Etnika, Zenith Summer Camp, Massaggia-Ti and Sound & Silence, and authored Your Sound Is Sacred, Ten Practices to Free Your Voice and Voice Unveiled.

Through Feeling Sound he offers concerts, workshops, retreats and collaborative projects that invite people not simply to learn techniques, but to experience the joy of being fully alive.

Whether performing for hundreds or singing quietly with a single person, his intention remains the same: to create spaces where people can rediscover the intelligence of their own voice.

Music as a way of being

Musician, overtone singer, voice explorer, teacher and multidisciplinary artist, Igor has dedicated his life to discovering how sound can awaken creativity, presence and genuine human connection.

His work has taken him to concert halls, conservatories, festivals, retreat centres, schools, ancient churches, caves and natural landscapes across Europe and beyond. Whether performing for hundreds or singing quietly with a single person, his intention remains the same: to create spaces where people can rediscover the intelligence of their own voice.



Discovering Harmonics

Born in the Netherlands, Igor's fascination with sound began long before he encountered overtone singing. As a child he was captivated by music, improvisation and the mysterious emotional power of vibration.

A turning point came when he discovered the ancient art of overtone singing, in which a single voice produces two or more distinct notes simultaneously. What began as technical curiosity gradually became a lifelong path of exploration.

Rather than treating overtone singing as a performance skill, Igor recognised it as a doorway into listening itself. Over the years he developed a natural approach to teaching that combines relaxation, playfulness, improvisation and deep attention, allowing people to discover harmonics without force or strain.

Thousands of participants have since discovered that finding their voice often transforms far more than the act of singing.


Creating Spaces

As the years unfolded, music became only one expression of a much broader creative vision.

Alongside concerts and recordings, Igor began creating immersive listening installations, giant playable sculptures, community singing projects, educational programmes, festivals and regenerative cultural initiatives.

From the Listening Chair and the giant didgeridoo Uroboros (see above), to DomeniCanto, Singing for Water, Sound & Silence, The Music Farm, Vivo la Voce and many other projects, each became another way of exploring the relationship between sound, people and place.

Although these projects appear diverse, they all arise from the same question:
How can beauty, listening and creativity help us remember who we are?


Feeling Sound

Over time these explorations naturally evolved into Feeling Sound.
More than an artistic project, Feeling Sound has become an evolving platform for concerts, workshops, retreats, recordings, books and artistic collaborations, all rooted in the belief that the human voice is one of our most direct paths to authenticity, wellbeing and community

Since 2010 Igor has worked closely with writer and facilitator Arianna Benedetta Artioli, together developing international retreats, educational programmes and regenerative cultural initiatives that weave together music, personal growth, ecology and community.

Today, Feeling Sound continues to grow as an artistic practice and a living invitation: to listen more deeply, sing more freely and participate more consciously in life.


A Different Way of Teaching

Many participants arrive believing they cannot sing.
They leave having discovered something far more valuable than technique.

Igor's work is not centred on perfect notes or polished performances. Instead, it invites people to relax, breathe, listen and trust the natural intelligence of their own voice.

Overtone singing, improvisation, silence, world instruments and group singing become tools for something larger: reconnecting with ourselves, each other and the living world.

Whether working with experienced musicians, complete beginners, educators or therapists, Igor creates an atmosphere of warmth, humour and curiosity where learning feels less like instruction and more like remembering.

Igor's work has been featured by universities, festivals and international organisations, and has also appeared on Italian national television. Among these was an invitation to RAI 3's Via dei Matti Numero 0, hosted by Stefano Bollani and Valentina Cenni, where he introduced millions of viewers to the fascinating world of overtone singing.

Behind every concert lies a larger story.
Over more than three decades Igor has created installations, performances, festivals, educational projects, ecological initiatives, musical experiments and collaborations that together form an ever-growing Living Archive.

Rather than documenting a career, the archive traces the evolution of a lifelong exploration into sound, creativity, community and regeneration.

Music is the medium. Human connection is the purpose.
The story continues in every concert, workshop and encounter.
